Angel D Laff Unveils Africa’s Groundbreaking “Jokes & Theatre” on Workers’ Day

Port Harcourt, get ready for something truly groundbreaking!

On Friday , May 1, 2026 (Workers’ Day), the Garden City will witness what promoters describe as Africa’s first-ever fusion of stand-up comedy and full theatrical stage play, as popular comedian and Guinness World Record holder Angel D Laff presents “Jokes & Theatre.”

The highly anticipated show promises non-stop laughter, powerful storytelling, and a nostalgic journey through the history of Rivers State.

What Makes “Jokes & Theatre” Different?

This isn’t your typical comedy show.

“Jokes & Theatre” blends the energy of stand-up comedy with the depth of live theatre, featuring:

• A full stage production with acting, music, dance, and dramatic storytelling

• Angel D Laff’s signature rib-cracking stand-up comedy

• A culturally rich narrative titled “Once Upon a Time in Rivers State”

The storyline explores Rivers State from the colonial era to modern times, highlighting the struggles, triumphs, and vibrant lifestyle that shaped the identity of the people.

Audiences will also experience nostalgic glimpses of old Port Harcourt township life, childhood memories, and the unique spirit of the Garden City.

The production is directed by respected theatre maestro Kpodoh Dan and produced by Angel D Laff, promising a powerful blend of education, culture, emotion, and comedy.

Who is Angel D Laff?

Known off stage as Angel Attah, Angel D Laff is one of Port Harcourt’s most influential entertainers.

He is:

• Founder of the Port Harcourt Comedy Club

• A Nigeria Police Ambassador

• A humanitarian and community advocate

Beyond comedy, he is also a 7th Dan Black Belt Taekwondo Grandmaster and a former Nigeria international champion.
