1

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the recent general elections, emerged victorious in the closely fought polls held in Rivers State.

In addition to his victory in Rivers State, the APC flagbearer also secured a significant number of votes in Niger and Benue states. The battle for Rivers State was intense, with the Labour Party and All Progressives Congress locked in a tight race. As the results from 21 local government areas were collated, it appeared that Obi, the LP candidate, was slightly ahead. However, the final two LGAs produced a dramatic shift in the outcome. Prior to the final collation, the APC candidate had received 148,979 votes, while the LP candidate had garnered 169,414 votes. Nevertheless, when the results from Wike’s LGA of Obio-Akpor were added, the numbers underwent a significant transformation.
