Raymond Dokpesi, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the founder of DAAR Communications plc, has passed away.

According to reports, Dokpesi, who held a significant role in the PDP, died at the age of 71 in Abuja.

Naira Diary reported that the renowned media mogul breathed his last at a hospital in Abuja at the age of 71.

The Whistler received confirmation of Dokpesi’s demise from a family member. The late Dokpesi, who was an ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, had been battling health issues after suffering a stroke shortly after the conclusion of the Ramadan fast.

The family source, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that Dokpesi had been undergoing occupational therapy to enhance his daily activities and regain mobility by engaging in gym workouts.

Tragically, during one of his routine gym sessions, Dokpesi experienced an electrocution accident while using one of the gym equipment, which led to a stroke and ultimately resulted in his death.

The Dokpesi family is expected to release an official statement regarding this unfortunate event in the near future.

It’s worth noting that Raymond Dokpesi and members of his family had previously been hospitalized at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, they all managed to recover from the illness.

Dokpesi’s significant achievements include the establishment of African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM. Additionally, he served as the Deputy Director-General of Technical and Systems for Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council.
