DELIBERATE DECISIONS THAT HELP YOU GROW using a real-life experience as a case study

Few days ago, I was counseling a relative who just stepped out of a bad marriage.

She wanted to get a small accommodation in a very remote area and start selling okirika clothes, by carrying them about.

Here’s what I said to her,

“In this life, we are products of our decisions. Whatever decisions you take today, will shape who you become tomorrow.

Now close your eyes and picture where you would be in 2 years of selling this Okrika.

In 2 years, you may have saved enough to get a location where you will sitting and selling the Okirika.

You may be making maybe 50k profit or more monthly (I do not know their numbers).

But guess what, you will not be satisfied with the woman that you are.

Even the wear and tear on your body as you carry the okrika around would make you age so much and drain your body.

I suggest you do this.

I know a library in Lekki that is looking for a cleaner/keeper.

They have a small accommodation at the back.

The pay is just 50k, but it places you in front of the right people that can help you grow.

Take this 30k, go and buy some nice black skirts that hit below your knees with some plain colour tops and flat black shoe.

Remove this wig. It looks rough. Just weave your hair very neatly, all back. That’s enough.

Take up that job.

After cleaning, sit with the librarian or any staff on any computer and start learning how to use the computer.

Learn how to register new people that come to the library.

Learn how to register new books that enter the library.

Learn how to issue receipts for those who make payment.

Learn how they renew their internet monthly.

Enter into the skin of the employees there and beg them to teach you stuff on the computer.

Then find online courses that develop your mind, your personality, your skills and take them.

In 2 years, you are equipped to become an admin staff in some company, earning above 100k.

Then from admin staff, you can choose a career path.

Maybe you choose operations.

Or you choose HR or whatever.

You start learning your new path and growing from there.

While being an admin staff, find online jobs that you can do at night for one/two hours and earn more money.

Keep your eyes on becoming a woman of great worth and wealth.

Every decision you take must be very intentional for your tomorrow.

Build your confidence.

Build your mindset.

Then head to the top gradually.”

She was very happy with this advice.

I just wanted to share it with you all.

I worry that a lot of us take decisions without considering our tomorrow.

Why take a decision that keeps you forever in poverty and struggles without developing the person that you are?

Why not take some time to sit down and think up another decision that can significantly grow your life in the next few years?

Please stop taking decisions that consider only money.

Let’s take decisions that consider money, personal growth and our tomorrow.

Please I beg you, be very very delibrate with your decisions for they mould your tomorrow.

Note please – Okrika is not a bad business, but at the level she wanted to do it, I had to discourage her.

I know some people are making millions from it, but they most likely play at a bigger level with more capital and better structure.
