HOW TO CHANGE YOUR “SHOULD” TO A “MUST” – JFK ABIONA

The reason you are not doing anything is the same reason you are not doing everything. Excuses are like perfumes, it’s sweet to smell but poisonous to the stomach. If wishes were horses, beggars too will ride.

As you wake up from bed this morning, getting ready to face your day head on. I want to plead with you to be careful of your sayings today vis a vis the goals you have set for yourself in 2022.

Remember, we just kissed the first quarter goodbye five days ago. Here is the second quarter in your face. The play button is being pressed and you are the main actor of your own movie. HOW FAR?

How far with your 2022 goals? How far with the book you are writing? How far with the course you want to read? How far with those projects Covid-19 stopped you from doing. Or you want blame the Russia-Ukrain war for it again? Excuses are so deadly such that some people blame the sun for shining and rain for falling. Everything is the problem except themselves.

People spend too much time finding other people to blame, too much energy finding excuses for not being what they are capable of being, and not enough energy putting themselves on the line, growing out of the past, and getting on with their lives.

It doesn’t matter if you come from the inner city. People who fail in life are people who find lots of excuses. It’s never too late for a person to recognize that they have potential in themselves.

So please take bull by the horn today. Script your day and act it out accordingly. I love the sign post on the express behind Aso Rock in Abuja. It says “No loitering, No Hawking, No stopping, Keep Moving”. I think some of us need such write up as our mantra.

Responsibility is the definition of adulthood, not age. Martin Luther once said, “If you cannot fly, run. If you cannot run, walk. If you cannot walk, crawl. By all means keep moving”.

You don’t need everyone as friends. You don’t need to honour every invitation. You don’t need to please all men. Stop being a generalissimo or a wondering generality. Rather, become a MEANINGFUL SPECIFIC.

Learn from your mistakes.

Distinguish yourself with excellence.

Forgive your offenders.

When you lose an opportunity, look out for another.

Take calculated risk.

Raise your standards.

Run away from sin.

Do things that will make the heavens smile at you.

You are closer to your breakthrough more than you think.
