Lagos Airwaves About to Shake! Honey Ojukwu Joins Max FM Breakfast Show

Honey Chiamaka Ojukwu, popularly known as Honey Ojukwu and “The Lioness of the New School Radio,” has made a major career move, officially joining Max FM Lagos.

The announcement, which has since stirred excitement across social media, confirms her arrival in Lagos’ highly competitive radio space, where she is now co-hosting the Max Breakfast show alongside Westy Baba from 5am to 10am on weekdays.

Max FM broke the news on Instagram with an energetic reveal:

“The wait is over, it’s Honey O’Clock!! If you guessed @honeyojukwu, then you are absolutely correct 👌👌 Let’s welcome ‘The Lioness of the New School Radio’ Honey Chiamaka Ojukwu; our newest signee on the #MaxBreakfast with @westybaba… You now have no reason to skip breakfast. Let’s shake it to the Max!!!”

Another post simply declared: “Queen of the Morning Show and The Lioness of the New School Radio is in Lagos.”

And just like that, it became clear that Lagos mornings were about to get a major upgrade.

For followers of her journey, this move marks a defining moment in a career built steadily over the years. Honey began her radio journey shortly after secondary school in 2014 at Gouni Radio, where she spent three years honing her craft. She later worked with Hit FM Calabar before landing her first major anchor role in 2017 at Urban Radio 94.5 FM Enugu, where she hosted Urban Fuse.

Her big break came in December 2018 when she joined Cool FM Port Harcourt, where she became a household name through the Good Morning Nigeria show. Over the years, she built a loyal audience, earning a reputation for her vibrant delivery, engaging personality, and strong listener connection.

Her excellence has been recognised with several awards, including:

  • Screams Awards – OAP of the Month (2017)
  • ELOY Awards – On-Air Personality of the Year
  • NMCA 2018 – Best OAP of the Year
  • South South Achievers Awards – OAP of the Year (2019)
  • Port Harcourt Magazine Awards – OAP of the Year (2021)
  • Rivers State Media Awards – Best Dressed Radio Presenter

Beyond radio, Honey is also a media entrepreneur and brand personality. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, and recently completed a Master’s degree in Communication & Media Studies from the University of Port Harcourt in 2025. She is the founder of Real Honey Media, a former Face of Xymoments, a TV co-host on The Amazing Show, and a brand ambassador to many brands.

Her move to Lagos is widely seen as a significant step forward, positioning her within Nigeria’s media capital and expanding her reach to a broader audience.

Listeners have already taken to social media to react to the news, with many describing the move as a major win:

“PH’s loss is Lagos’ gain!”

“Breakfast just became premium content!”

“Queen of the morning show has entered the building!”

With her new role on Max Breakfast, Honey Ojukwu is already bringing her signature energy and style to Lagos airwaves — a move that could reshape the city’s morning radio experience.

For Lagos listeners, one thing is clear: mornings just got a lot more exciting.

Port Harcourt, you raised her. Lagos, get ready. The Lioness has arrived, and she’s not here to play small.

Welcome to the big leagues, Honey Chiamaka Ojukwu.
