US rapper, Earl Simmons popularly known as DMX, died yesterday at the age of 50.
The rapper was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York last week Friday after a drug overdose.
Here are the seven things you should know about DMX:
1) He was born in Mount Vernon, New York.
2) DMX joined the music industry in 1984, when he beatboxed for a local rapper named Ready Ron.
3) He once belonged to the same musical group with fellow rapper JAY Z and Ja Rule before they split in the 1990s.
4) In 1986, DMX was first sent to prison after he stole a dog from a junkyard.
5) He was sent to prison again in 1988 for carjacking, and was later moved to a higher security prison after attempting to extort a fellow inmate for drugs.
6) Some of his hit songs include, Party Up (Up in Here), Ruff Ryders’ Anthem, Get at me dog featuring Sheek and more.
7) DMX was married to Tashera Simmons from 1999-2014 and they had four children.
