SMEDAN has distributed 1,480 brand new laptops to SMEs,” stated Dr. Olawale Fasanya, the Director General/CEO of SMEDAN.
He emphasized that the Agency aims to equip MSMEs in Nigeria with digital skills, enabling them to explore global markets under the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.
This announcement came during the closing ceremony of the Digital Training and Empowerment program in Abuja, where Deputy Chairman House Committee on SMEs, Hon. Obed Shehu, joined him. The laptops were distributed across the 36 states, including FCT, and participants were trained in various online tools to enhance their businesses.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the transparent selection process and pledged to utilize the laptops to expand their businesses internationally. Dignitaries at the event urged the recipients not to sell the laptops, emphasizing the importance of making good use of the opportunity provided by SMEDAN.
They also encouraged SMEDAN to expand the program, despite potential budget constraints, to benefit more young Nigerians. – Moshood Lawal, Head, Corporate Affairs SMEDAN, @lashood
