The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox JP., was amongst athletes that participated in the Bonny Island Marathon (BIM), today, covering a 21 kilometer distance from Finima Football Pitch, through the LGA Secretariat Complex at Hospital Road, culminating at the Government Primary School, Bonny.
In her remark at the closing ceremony, the Bonny LGA Chief Executive said BIM had attained the enviable status of an annual recreational event to expect on the Island, adding that the organisers were ready for the global fame of the brand, and haven proven their mettle, should be supported through a larger participation by career and leisure athletes in next year’s edition.
Apart from the supportive role of the local government in the actualization of the 2022 Bonny Island Marathon, the Bonny LGA Chairman equally announced an additional 100,000 naira cash prize each for overall and indigenous winners respectively, amidst a fanfares of other prize presentations and the conferment of a medal of honour on the LGA Boss by the Management of BIM.
