Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade has lost his Senatorial bid to a PDP candidate, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe
In the just-concluded senatorial elections in Cross River State, Governor Ben Ayade lost his bid for the seat to Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sen. Jarigbe, the incumbent senator for the Northern Senatorial District of the state, was re-elected after garnering 76,145 votes, defeating Governor Ayade of the All Progressives Congress who polled 56,595 votes.
The returning officer for the election, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe, declared Sen. Jarigbe as the winner in the early hours of Monday and expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders for their peaceful conduct during the election. Emanghe also commended the security agents for their support, which ensured a successful and credible election.
