FIRSTLOVE ASSEMBLY NATIONAL CONVENTION 2021

Pastor Simeon Afolabi, the founder and Serving overseer of Firstlove Assembly, finally unveils the theme of the Church’s forthcoming annual convention.

Pastor Afolabi declared the convention theme as ‘WE HAVE AN ANCHOR’ at a press briefing on Monday, 4th of October, 2021 in Port Harcourt ahead of the convention.

He said that the annual convention would hold from Thursday, November 4 to Sunday, November 7 at the Church Headquarters, number 457 Ikwerre road, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Pastor Afolabi revealed the inspiration behind the theme of the convention ‘WE HAVE AN ANCHOR’, taken from Hebrews 6 vs 19 which points to the fact that believers have a means of stability despite the certainties witnessed in recent times.

“The inspiration behind the theme has to do with the general certainties we’ve seen in the nation and the nations of the earth such as shakings, turmoil, problems, and challenges people are faced with.

“In our country (Nigeria) for example, the issue of insecurity, unemployment, kidnapping, etc, in the midst of this turmoil as believers we still know we have an anchor – a means of stability, something that holds us together and pull us together as people of God even though there might be a threat from outside”.

Present at the press briefing, which was streamed live on the church Facebook page, were the resident pastor of the host branch, Pastor Linus Ochai, his assistant, Pastor Daniel Nnabugwu, and the resident pastor of the Owerri branch, Pastor Emmanuel Itua.

Pastor Linus Ochai while responding to a question on how the church convention will cope with the pandemic era said the global pandemic is no threat to the event; he assured that there will be plans in place for the whole congregation to observe all the COVID-19 protocols.

Beyond that, the event will be aired live through the Church’s Facebook page and youtube channel, while others can view it with any of the church branches nationwide.

This year’s convention, according to Firstlove Assembly, will provide a rare opportunity for the Church to see God as an anchor in different dimensions never seen before. The convention will feature Reverend Yomi Kasali, Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, and Reverend Marius Aluigwe as guest ministers.

Assessing last year’s convention, it was evident that the Church had experienced the impact of the theme for the last convention which was, “More Than Conquerors”.

With this year’s theme, WE HAVE AN ANCHOR succeeding the previous one, the great promise of God according to Hebrews 6 vs 19 could not have come at any better time than now that our nation and other nations of the world are suffering untold hardships.

The year’s convention will also mark the 23rd anniversary of the ministry which started on the 1st of November, 1998.

It is expected that the 2021 convention will mark new dawn both for the Church and the country.
