Wild lettuce (Lactuca virosa) is a flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. It’s also very popular in west African countries like Ghana . The plant has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties.

The main active compounds in wild lettuce are sesquiterpene lactones, including lactucin and lactucopicrin. These compounds have sedative and pain-relieving effects.
