Twice As Tall: Is Leriq The Most Underrated Nigerian Music Producer?

The Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, released his anticipated fifth studio album, TWICE AS TALL, on Friday. The album was produced by Telz, P2J, Timbaland, Leriq, Rexxie, Skread, Andre Harris, Jae5, Mike Dean, and many more.

His mum cum manager, Bosede Ogulu, and ‘Diddy’ were the executive producers.

Out of the 15 songs on the album, Lerig produced “No fit vex’ and ‘Way too big’.

And according to fans, Leriq produced the fans favourite on the Twice As Tall album, still, he does not and might not get the accolades he deserves.

In case you didn’t know, LeriQ produced Burna Boy’s 2012 single Like To Party, and went on to produce the singer’s debut album L.I.F.E – Leaving an Impact for Eternity (2013).

LeriQ also arranged, mixed and mastered all the songs on the album for Aristokrat Records. Surprisingly, all he got was one Headies nomination.

Aside, Burna Boy’s conscious efforts to shared light on the truth the European scholars deny Africans which from my PR lens seems like a masked strategy, when I think of Burna Boy, I think of Leriq.

Leriq has also worked with other artists and produced success records for them. But this article is about his contribution to Burna Boy’s success, so I will stay on his works with and for Burna Boy.

The question is, when will Leriq get the attention and respect he deserves for his work?

And this is where I finally agree that “life no balance”.
