FEDERAL GOVT DECLARES DEC. 26-26, JAN 1ST PUBLIC HOLIDAY

The federal Government of Nigeria has declared December 25th (Christmas day), December 26th (Boxing Day), and January 1st (New Year) as public holiday.

This information was relayed by the Nigerian Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made this declaration on behalf of the sovereign federal govt on Thursday, in Abuja . In this statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, celebrates with Christians and all Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora on the 2019 Christmas and New Year celebrations, and further advised them not to lose track of the reason for the season.

He encouraged all Christians to pray more and to live by the exemplary virtues espoused in the incredible teachings of Jesus Christ, whose birthday is being celebrated. He listed the virtues to include: compassion, patience, peace, humility, righteousness and love for one another.

The minister further expressed his optimism for 2020, especially how he fervently believes that things would improve under the Buhari-led administration in this coming year.
