Enavize Gordon is the new gospel singer you need to pay attention to. While many were complaining about the lockdown, she used the opportunity to record new songs, and today, she has ” Omo mi,  Rise“. She also has other songs like Trust and New Dawn.

In this interview, Enavize Gordon shares her inspiration for making music, how she coped during the lockdown, her future plans and more.

Who is Enavize Gordon?

Enavize Gordon is a singer and songwriter. She was born in Nigeria and grew up in Lagos State. She began singing in church as a child in her church choir.

How would you describe your music?

My music is a personal Christian experience and as such it addresses issues that everyone faces. New Christians, old Christians, non-Christians, the message is for everyone.  My music reflects my love for God and tells about God’s goodness. My music is also a call to young generals that God is raising. It is a form of evangelism that uplifts and preaches about God’s love to everyone.

How long have you been making music?

I have been making music for 3 years.

Tell us about your new song,Omo My Rise. What inspired the song?

“Omo Mi, Rise” is a message from God to his children, telling us to arise and shine. It speaks to us, to believe beyond our sight. It reminds us of our heritage in Christ Jesus! Being born a king and knowing you are king is only part of the victory. The complete victory is in earning the crown through your daily works. What are you doing right now? Will you arise or will you keep wallowing? God is saying Rise, Child. This song is actually my testimony, just as it is becoming your testimony too. We are all important to God!

What has been your biggest moment as a musician?

My biggest moment as a musician was after the release of “Omo Mi, Rise”. Two individuals called me up to tell me about their experience with the song. One had lost her baby and the other had been dealing with depression. Both of them mentioned how they had given up but on hearing “Just believe’ and “Rise” they felt encouraged. They both experienced the lifting power of the music and they connected with it. There were other people but these two stood out to me and I have held on to those moments as a part of the reason not to give up.

What project are you working on currently?

I am currently working on a few songs that you will get to hear by the end of the year or the start of 2021. Watch this space as more music will be coming forth. God has only just started.

Who are the gospel artists you are looking up to?

There are so many gospel artists I look up to. It’s always hard to choose one. I look up to Sinach, Tasha Cobbs, Lighthouse family, Calledout Music, Ada Ehi, Jonathan Mc Reynolds, Dunsin Oyekan, Tauren Wells, Travis Greene, Johnny Drille, Nathaniel Bassey. The list is endless.

The coronavirus sort of threw a wrench in everyone’s plans for 2020. How have yours changed or stayed the same?

Due to the COVID-19, I was off work for 4 months and this gave me the time to focus on other aspects of my life. I did a bit of story writing and songwriting. I also took advantage of the time to create music. I wouldn’t say the COVID-19 really changed my plans, it just caused me to rearrange it. Do a few things earlier and hold off on some for a future date.

2020 is almost gone. What should we expect from you next year?

For next year, expect me to do what God has asked me to do by his grace.

What is the one message you would love to send to your fans?

The one message I would love to send to people out there is that life can be tough and things can be discouraging but God is God and all will be well. We all just need to take it calmly, in faith and everything will definitely work out for our good. Weeping may endure for the night but joy definitely comes in the morning. Keep trusting!
